Mise-En-Scene - Notes

1. Costume
Choose carefully the style of hair, makeup and costume of subject in the photograph.

2. Location
Consider what image mood or atmosphere you are trying to create. Choose your location with this in mind.

3. Lighting and colour
Again this should compliment the atmosphere e.g sense of age use sepia, vibrant energy choose primary colours, Wealth or opulence highlight greens, golds or silvers, sinister or macabre choose blacks or purples.

4. Props
Part of the setting, this must compliment the intention e.g a cup of tea in a delicate china tea cup might not be the chosen drink of a drug addled heavy rockstar.

When analysing photographs or taking them you must be able to explain the Mise-en-scene.
